HAIRCUTS
All kinds. Bringing in pictures is a big help.

A Locks of Love donation means that you allow us to cut off 6-10" of your hair which we will then send to this organization (see www.LocksofLove.org).  We do not charge for cutting off the hair, but if you would then like your hair to be cut as a hairstyle, we do charge the usual fee.

PERMS: Regular and Special (spiral, piggyback, partial, root, gemini)
These are just some of the special perm wraps available. Consult with the stylist who will be doing this service to determine the exact method(s). Prices for special perms depend on hair length, thickness and complexity of wrap.

COLORS
    Permanent: (brand: Redken Color Fusion) - this stays on the hair shaft permanently (as the name implies), although after many months there may be some fading or discoloration, especially if one swims, is in the sun, or has mineral deposits in the shampoo water.  Hair grows out approximately 1/2 inch per month, and you will see a line of regrowth or demarkation ('roots'). Permanent color is generally chosen when you really want to cover gray or white hair, or change your hair color dramatically.
    Semi and Demi-Permanent: (brands: Redken Color Fusion, Shades EQ) - these fade slightly and wear off over approximately two to three months. There is still some ammonia and peroxide in these formulas, so there will be some line of regrowth or demarkation, although less than with a permanent color. Neither semi nor demi colors fully cover gray hair, so the gray, usually 50% or less, becomes a highlight to the new color.
    Corrective color: Before an appointment is booked, one of our haircolor specialists need to assess the situation to determine the time needed and the price (corrective haircolor, in general, is about twice the regular fee).
    

HIGHLIGHTS (and lowlights): Only strands of hair are colored or bleached. These strands can be pulled through a cap with a crochet hook for a random effect. We use a foam cap for its cushiony feel. Or the hair can be artfully woven out and placed on foil. Foiling takes longer and thus costs more. Highlights make the strands lighter than your natural color, using either color or bleach. Lowlights make the strands darker and so can only be done with color. Lowlights, also known as Gray Reduction, are often recommended to lessen the percentage of gray.  A partial foil highlight gets the hair at the top and sides of the head.  A full foil highlight also includes all the hair in the back and bottom, for those who like to have highlights when their hair is up.

    Double process (bleach and tone): This is generally done when the hair has to be lightened considerably, and then the tone has to be corrected to achieve the desired look.

UPDOS
If you have a special event, we recommend a consultation ahead of time with the stylist who will be doing the updo so everyone will know what will be involved and what to expect. Arrive with relatively clean hair--shampoo and blowdry are not included with this particular service. Also wear something that opens easily so it doesn't have to be pulled off up and over your head.

SKIN CARE
In a quiet and relaxing private room, the esthetician looks at your skin through the lighted magnifying loop.  Then, as necessary, the skin is softened with some steam and deep cleaned.  Appropriate lotions and masques are applied, perhaps massaged in or left to stay on for awhile.  Special Facials include a 5 Layer Facial that provides that extra richness for mature skin; an Aromatherapy Facial uses carefully blended essential oils that can relax or stimulate your mind and body; an Oxygen Therapy Facial uses certain special products that help breathe fresh life into your skin.  Teen facials take less time (and therefore cost less) because there is generally no massage in order not to awaken the sebaceous glands.  A back treatment deals with acne on the back.  Glycolic peels use a plant-based alpha hydroxy to gently disintegrate the surface skin, revealing the smoothness below.  The microtreatments include specialized products particular to each area.  An oxygen therapy masque infuses the breath of life back into your skin.  We use BioElements, Glymed, Nelly du Vuyst, and Aveda products.  

MANUAL MICRODERMABRASION
Manual microdermabrasion uses special formulas derived by BioElements with a technique specifically designed to give you the results of an instrumental microdermabrasion treatment without the pain and at a fraction of the cost.

NAIL CARE
Special manicures and pedicures offer exfoliating treatments that leave the skin extremely soft. French manicures and pedicures (painting the tip of the nail a different color) are also available.  In a paraffin treatment, the hands and/or feet are encased in a warm fragrant wax that infuses the skin with moisture and leaves the skin incredibly soft for a few days.  We use OPI and Creative Spa products.

An Overlay can be done with acrylics or with gel to let your natural nail stay stronger longer.  A full set requires an acrylic nail glued on top of your own nail.

WAXING

WAXING
The hair has to be at least 1/8 inch long to adhere to the wax.  It takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks for the hair to reappear through the surface of the skin.  We can probably wax any part of the body except private parts.  We also offer Sugaring, a hair removal technique done just like waxing but with a totally natural product composed of sugar and lemon juice.

HENNA TATTOOS

We are very lucky to be able to offer the talent and skill of Sue Murad, Henna Artist.  She says: if she sees it, she can draw it.  Tattoos last about two weeks.  Depending on size and complexity, they take anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours to complete.  There are many designs to choose from or bring your own.  Sue comes in when scheduled, for a minimum of one hour for $75.  Get a group of friends together for a creative way to celebrate a special occasion.  The rate for 1.5 hours is $100, two hours is $130.

OUR CANCELLATION POLICY

Fresh Hair requires that you contact the salon at least three hours before an appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule.  If for any reason you do not contact us to cancel or reschedule at least three hours before your appointment, you will be considered a ‘no-show’.

If you acquire two no-shows on file, we require that you leave a credit card number to book another appointment.  Your credit card will only be charged if there is not prior notification of the third appointment being cancelled or rescheduled.
